MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORKSHOP ON IONIZING RADIATION & PROTECTION

March 25, 2020 To be rescheduled at a later date

@ Georgetown University, Washington DC

A new approach to radiation protection

The conference, funded by Georgetown Environmental Initiative (AY2019-21), is the launching event of a pilot project to reexamine the linear non-threshold (LNT) model for ionizing radiation. Our purpose is to bring together many and diverse insights from humanities, science, and practices relating to radiation protection and identify new ways to connect academic knowledge to practices. Another purpose is to create an enduring scholarly network around our shared interest in and concern for the issues relating to radiation protection. We hope that participants will stay in close contact after the conference and explore the possibility of organizing a larger, more substantial multidisciplinary research project on the LNT model and its scientific, regulatory, and social implications.
